Action Heart - My Experience - Getting Back To Full Fitness
At the end of November 2011 I was diagnosed with early onset coronary heart disease at age 43 years due to family genetics and my only option would be to undergo open heart surgery urgently. I had a coronary artery bypass graft on December 14 2011 and commenced the Action Heart Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in February 2012.
Following a consistent period of exercise my fitness increased to the level that I was able to successfully complete the 54 mile London to Brighton cycle ride on 17 June 2012 raising sponsorship for the British Heart Foundation .
In October 2012 I returned back to playing five-a-side football with my work friends and by January 2013 I resumed my number one passion in life – 8 days skiing in the French Alps reaching altitudes of over 3500 metres above sea level !
It is my future ambition to reach Everest base camp at 4500 metres above sea level.
Action Heart
Patient Experience
I have recently completed my 12 months rehabilitation programme with Action Heart and would like to thank all the staff and volunteers for all their help and support
I will continue in the future to follow a regular fitness programme and continue to build on what I have achieved with Action Heart.
